Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 GPS… My smartwatch of choice!

Over the years I’ve had a couple of Fitbits and then a Fossil smartwatch. When it came time to buy something new a few years ago I did a lot of research on different brands and models of smartwatches. One of the things that lead me to the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 GPS was the promise of a super long battery life. And boy did they deliver! I used to have to charge my Fossil watch daily and if I forgot at some point then I was without my watch until I had time to charge it. I usually charge this watch three times a week. If I pushed the battery more to the limits, I think I could probably charge it just two days a week most of the time. There’s even an “essential mode” that you can use if you need minimal fancy functionality but want a really long charge like on a camping trip or something. That mode claims 45 days! Though I’ve never tested that feature out.

One of the keys to the long battery life is the dual display (see below photo for the lower power display mode). When you just need to glance for the basic statistics of time, date, steps, and battery level you can just use this lower power display mode. I love this for just checking the time at a glance. But just tap the screen or flip your wrist when a notification comes in and the fully lit display comes up.

This watch has all the usual features you’d expect in a smartwatch… Notifications, apps, fitness tracking, sleep tracking, and more. And of course, you can put more apps on it from the Google Play connection. There’s also TONS of watch faces you can load on there to customize it to your liking. I love being able to get just the stats I want in a design I like by trying the different options.

I have been wearing this watch for over two and a half years now and really have no complaints overall. I did just recently have to replace the original silicone band that came with the watch. While the stitching on it had worn off in places over time (aesthetic issue only) the watch band itself was actually still functional. However, one of our cats decided he was bored one day when I was swimming (one of the few times I take the watch off - even though it’s waterproof I still remove it for swimming/showering) and chewed part of the band off. Thanks, Frankie (the cat)! Soooo… Enter the replacement band that you can see in the photos. The cool thing with this watch is that you can use any 22mm quick release band. I found this one on Amazon for about $6 a few weeks ago and so far, so good.

Mobvoi recently released a new version of this watch. If you’re in the market for a new smartwatch and what I’ve written has you intrigued, then you might want to check that version out. It’s the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5.
