The pocket knife that started it all!

Victorinox Swiss Army Classic SD Knife

When I first found the Victorinox Swiss Army Classic SD Knife pocket knife all those years ago I had no idea that one day it would lead me to wanting to expand my collection of gear for on the go and eventually start a site/blog about it. (Check out my About page for the full story.)

I loved that this pocket knife was small… I loved that it had multiple tools on it… And as a high school student I loved that it wasn’t very expensive! Who knew that all these years later I’d be carrying the same model of knife (though it is not the same one I originally bought). My current iteration is showing signs of wear as you can see in the above photo but that doesn’t bother me. It’s just well used (and loved)! And yes… It does indeed glow in the dark!

I think almost anyone would benefit from having one of these. I use mine virtually each day for SOMETHING. The tools included are a knife, nail file, flat head screwdriver, scissors, tweezers, and a toothpick. And it comes with a little ring to make it easy to attach to your keys as an easy way to carry it. These aren’t the heavy-duty tools you will see in larger pocket knives or bigger multi-tools but you’d be amazed at the day to day things it can take care of. Opening packages, tightening a loose screw on something, fixing that annoying snag in one of your fingernails, cutting a thread off clothes without pulling, swapping batteries in something… The possibilities are endless!

All of my friends and family know that I have it so they’ll even ask to borrow it if I’m around and they need it. Many years ago, I was even in a bar for a theme night event that a friend of mine was hosting. From up on the stage, I see her cover her eyes to try to see past the stage lights, squint, and yell, “Holly! I need your knife!” She knew that if I was there then my knife would be and she needed to borrow it to cut something.

Here’s an Amazon link to the basic red version. You can see that it comes in various colors. Get one for yourself or buy them for gifts… You’ll find yourself using it more than you might think!
